Sculptured Landscape by Ken Dalgarno
His exhibit Sculpted Landscapes focuses on and chronicles the now decaying and vanishing farm buildings and grain elevators that once dotted the flat Saskatchewan prairies. These monuments stand - barely- not only as a fading symbol of the toil and bond pioneers once had with the land but also as a strong symbol of our own fleeting and fragile place in the world. Like the rugged land and swirling skies these canvases are painted with an ultra thick paint application, creating a seductive tactile texture of swirling furrows and ridges - in essence a landscape within a landscape. This exhibition is being toured by the Organization of Saskatchewan Allied Arts Councils and sponsored by the Battlefords Allied Arts Council.

The do's and don'ts, costs and more will be covered. Time will be left for questions and discussion. INSTRUCTOR: Paul Constable, Graduate of ACAD, 1976, Calgary, Director of Artists in Canada.com. As a Graphic Designer for 33 years and a Senior Art Director for an Ad Agency in Saskatoon for 23 years, websites have been an essential communication device for many of his clients. In 2000 he formed Artists in Canada, a free for use website directory, to better connect Visual Artists to each other and their potential markets. Just For You

Thank you to the following exhibitors
Helen Menssa, Ivy Moore, Karen Kowalski, Rita Young, Helen Cole, Evelyn Campbell, Doreen Jeffrey, Chris Hodge, Kathy Johnson, and Bertha E. Klassen.
Our first annual “Just for You” Valentine’s Day sale of cards and gifts went well. The majority of artists made a sale. The workshop registration for our annual winter artist retreat is great and I will have some pictures of the event in our next newsletter or view all images on our web site. We welcome Kathy McNinch to our work force. Kathy will be working on three areas of galleries operations: a review of our marketing strategy and implementing some new ventures in marketing, overlooking our current grants and seeking new funding for exhibitions and special projects, and working with some exhibitions and programs to support exhibitions. (“If you’re not prepared to be wrong you’ll never come up with anything original” Sir Ken Robinson) a thought I read awhile back. We now have a 24 hour, three camera, video security surveillance system at the gallery.
